Rely on Mobile Devices
Developments in technology have increasingly changed the nature of investor relations, with the SEC monitoring social media to ascertain whether or not it is an appropriate channel for communicating investor information. Meanwhile, investors are adopting mobile technology at a rapid clip. As this infographic from theIRapp below shows, 83% of institutional investors rely on mobile tools to do their work. However, the majority of them are still living in a two-device world: 40% of their employers provide them with RIM devices such as the Blackberry while just over 20% provide them with Apple devices. Of the investors who own a second device for personal communications, 84% of them have selected Apple. For those inhabiting the Blackberry ecosystem, 46% are waiting to see how the new Blackberry Z10 operating system turns out before upgrading their devices.
