Gridless Power Turns
New York City Pride Green

Gridless Power, a Collingswood, New Jersey-based start-up that designs mobile battery technology for extreme conditions, turned New York City Pride “green” on Monday at The LGBT Center’s annual Garden Party on Pier 84 on the Hudson River. The event was attended by 2,000 people and required 31,841 Wh of energy for LED lighting, audio equipment, cooking equipment, refrigerators, and freezers. Gridless deployed 11 Gridless 7000 batteries and 13 Gridless 1000 batteries to provide 90,000 Wh of energy, enough to have run the event for well over 9 hours; giving party-goers a fume-free, noiseless experience up to 13x cleaner than an outdoor event powered by a standard 20 kW Generator.

“Gridless could not be more excited to partner with The LGBT Center to kick off Pride,” said Andrew Leonard, co-founder and COO of Gridless Power. “After many years working in emergency relief, we are happy to be bringing our green energy technology to supply power to events like the Garden Party. The Center does great work supporting and empowering LGBT folks like me to succeed, and I am proud to be able to support them by powering their event!”

Gridless, whose batteries can charge via the sun, vehicle, wall, and even a traditional generator — and do not require a permit — have long since been trusted by disaster response teams, fire departments, police, and aid organizations across the world for their rugged reliable power.

They were selected to power the Garden Party by ATD Productions — an experiential brand activation, technical production, and audio/visual company based in the West Village that is dedicated to providing environmentally-friendly equipment to top-tier events — and Shadowbox Design Management, Inc.; a highly innovative, full-service production and systems integration company that creates superior client and audience experience every day.

“I was beyond pleased with the performance of the battery power that was provided to run the Garden Party,” said Joseph Ondrek, Vice President of Shadowbox Design Management. “It was groundbreaking to have a 2,000-person event running flawlessly on all battery power sources. In the critical world of live events, when you only have one shot to make the show happen, Gridless delivered and then some. We would absolutely trust Gridless with our power needs again.”

The Garden Party serves as the official kick-off of NYC Pride Week, boasting an astounding collection of restaurant partners and chefs over the Hudson River. Proceeds from the Garden Party support The Center’s life-changing and life-saving programs and services; offering the LGBT communities of NYC health and wellness programs; arts, entertainment and cultural events; recovery, wellness, parenthood and family support services.
