Design.Samsung Is Holding A Festival Competition

Before you chuck that used paper packaging into a recycling bin, there is something we want to tell you. Let’s make something out of these used paper packages! No, not like a kindergarten project (which is awesome by the way). We are talking about making something more creative AND practical out of it.

But why?

Because it is the perfect time to do so. Design.Samsung recently announced that it is holding the Idea Festival, “ReMake it Meaningful.”

Basically, the challenge is to transform used paper packages into a creative, practical product that adds meaningful value to our lives.Used paper packaging must be the primary material used for the festival, but may also include additional materials (The use of too many additional materials may result in deductions during the judging process). There are no official size restrictions, be aware that all award winning designs will be placed on exhibition – Try not to create something too large or too small.

We are sure that your urge to create something is enough motivation for you to participate. But Samsung appreciates your time and effort and wants to celebrate your creativity, so Design.Samsung will give out a total of 11,000,000 (KRW) ($10,000 USD) cash prize and some Galaxy Alpha for the 13 winning submissions.

So who can apply? Students in a Full-time Undergraduate or Graduate program that is longer than 2 years can participate as an individual or a team (up to 4 people). Military personnel are also eligible for participation, but professional workers are ineligible for participation. The registration starts on October 20th 2014 and ends on November 7th, 2014 (17:00 KST). Applications must be registered through the ‘Application Menu’ found on Design Samsung (design.samsung.com).
