Compelling Report on Social Network Demographics in 2012
Have you ever wanted to glean more information on the demographics of social network users? A new report on social network demographics released by Pingdom showcases a treasure trove of demographic information from over 24 social media related sites. The report notes that only 2% of social media users surveyed are 65 and older. However, this chart tells a more nuanced story. While one might expect the average age for several of these sites to skew toward the very young, that is not always the case and the average age can vary significantly according to the site in question. 55% of Twitter users are 35 or older, 63% of Pinterest users are 35 or older, 65% of Facebook users are 35 or older, and a generous 79% of LinkedIn users are 35 are older. On the flip side, other social media networks trend significantly younger: some 85% of Orkut users are under 35, for example.
