CBSE Class 9 Maths Exam:
Make Preparation Easy with These Tips
Class 9 Maths is a crucial stage in the life of every student. Sometimes a lot of students are afraid of how they will tackle Maths problems because they are a bit different from previous classes, but there is no need to worry at all. Instead, if you study smart and hard in class 9, class 10 maths will be smooth, and you will surely ace your examination.
Here are quick tips to ace your class 9 like a topper:

Keep A Check On The Paper Pattern:
Your paper is divided into two parts
PART-A | PART-B |
Q1 to Q16 (1 mark each) | Q21 to Q26 (2 marks each) |
Q17 to Q20 (4 marks each) | Q27 to Q33 (3 marks each) |
Q34 to Q36 (5 marks each) |
Refer to NCERT Books:
Go through NCERT books thoroughly and underline the important points which can be asked in one mark and case study based questions like the definition of semi perimeter from the chapter Heron’s Formula, or basic differences between different quadrilaterals. These are some points that can be potentially asked in the exam which are from the NCERT book. There is no need to refer to other books as it can waste your time. None of the questions will be asked from outside the NCERT maths coursebook in your classes 9 and 10.
Solve Examples and Exercises:
Focus on solving examples mentioned in your NCERT book at least twice or thrice. With this, you’ll know the type of questions asked in the exercise as well as the examination. The pattern remains the same. There may be a few minor changes but the questions are very easy and simple once you get the idea of the pattern.
Practice Daily:
Practice is what keeps your brain active and ready to solve any question in the exam. Try solving NCERT chapters at least 3-4 times before the exam so that when you are reading the question, you know how to solve it. There are chances that you might even know the answer because you have already solved that question before. However, remember to not waste your time on unnecessary questions and make a note of questions that are repeatedly asked. Try to practice those questions more, especially the long answer type, so that you do not waste time on lengthy questions. If you are attempting a question for the very first time, try solving it yourself, even if it takes a lot of time. If you still can’t solve it, you can download and refer to the Vedantu NCERT solutions for class 9 maths pdf.
Make Short Notes:
While revising the theory portion, make short and quick notes in a separate diary. For example, when you are studying theorems in the Triangles chapter, note down all the theorems with their proofs in a separate diary and keep revising them. Remember not to take these theorems lightly, because they will be used repeatedly in classes 10, 11 and 12. Try to focus on the theory part as well, because you can only solve questions when you know which concept is to be applied.
Time Management:
Sometimes, students do not give proper time to maths and end up being scared of it. You need to realize that maths needs special attention. Try to give at least half an hour extra to maths, as compared to other subjects. Also, do not take a lot of pressure and try to remain calm while studying, otherwise you will end up overthinking and wasting more time. If you can not focus, take a nap or a short walk so that you feel rejuvenated and ready to concentrate on your study.
Tips for attempting questions in exam:
- Read the question carefully.
- Check if there is a choice in the question so that you do not waste time attempting an extra part.
- Utilize your reading time properly and mark the questions which you think you can solve easily and attempt them first. Leave some space for the questions you think are tricky.
- When you have finished answering the questions you know, move on to the questions you have marked earlier. One by one, read the question and try to recall the concept, theorem, or property associated with it.
- If you are unable to do so, move on to the next question and repeat the same step.
- If it is a geometry question, do not forget to draw a diagram, even if you can not solve the question.
- When you are solving a question, underline what is given and write that on your answer sheet. Find out what needs to be proved or asked to solve and write the same on your answer sheet. This gives you a clear idea about the question and makes it easy to solve.
- Do not panic while solving the question, because even a small multiplication or subtraction error can completely change your answer.
- In algebra questions, try to separate variables and constants to reduce the errors.
These tips can make your class 9 maths super easy and will save you time!
